KLANG, June 8 (Bernama) — The Works Ministry has agreed to allocate RM2.2 million to the Selangor Public Works Department (PWD) to begin traffic dispersal works around the upgrading works involving phase three of the Federal Territory Route 5 linking Kapar to Klang here.
Works Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor said the allocation was requested by the Selangor PWD to turn some roads that ran through the project as one-ways as part of efforts to disperse traffic.
“The RM2.2 million allocation is not the final solution to the traffic congestion problem but would to some degree reduce the burden on drivers in Klang who come from Shah Alam and headed towards Port Klang and vice-versa.
“The PWD, the Klang Municipal Council and the police will continue to look at ways to reduce congestion due to the project’s start. I urge people to be patient until the issue is resolved,” Shaziman told reporters after visiting the project site here today.
Among proposals put forward to reduce traffic congestion around the project was to make one-way roads of Jalan Batu Tiga, Jalan Pasar, Lebuh Tapah, Jalan Mantin and part of Jalan Sireh; making Jalan Nanas one-way towards Jalan Pasar; making Jalan Kapar between Jalan Raja Bot and Jalan Mantin one-way towards Jalan Mantin; and Jalan Gelugor be turned one-way towards Jalan Meru.
Jalan Meru between Jalan Gelugor and Jalan Sireh are proposed to turned one-way towards Jalan Sireh and the 100 Roundabout be upgraded by reducing the time of the traffic lights there.
Shaziman also said the contractor for the project, SPAZ Sdn Bhd, had indicated to him that the upgrading project for the Jalan Kapar-Klang worth almost RM32 million would be completed by latest at the year’s end although it had been scheduled to be completed in March next year.
Recently, several traders who had been based in northern Bandar Klang especially in Jalan Goh Hock Huat and Jalan Tapah voiced their dissatisfaction about the upgrading project worried that it would disrupt their incomes.

I am not sure who to write to and hope you can help me. I am living overseas at the moment n happen to go back home last week. While i was loading my bags into the booth of my car, two malay guys appeared at my gate. The first thing the crossed my mind as i saw them were that they were robbers as one of them looked like a mat rempit. They muttered something n i told them to hold on as i was in the process of loading my bags. After doing that, i walked into my house n locked the door after them. They kept calling but i refused to go out. I was so afraid n was literally shivering not knowing what to do or who to call. I then pulled myself together n called my sis-in-law who came fm Sg. Buloh. It was only after she and her sons came that i opened the door n noticed an envelope that was left at my gate. I was surprised to see that the letter was from the government as it had “Urusan Paduka Baginda” and inside was there was about 2 pages all written in malay which i really did not understand. The letter was from the Selangore government, department of statistics. They wanted to know about household income. The guy who delivered the letter to me left his phone number on the letter n i called him up. I gave him a piece of my mind and told him off. He then proceeded to ask me questions which were personal n which i refused to answer. He also wanted to know my name and if there was anyone living at my home or was it empty. I am just wondering, if this is real or a hoax and how can the government ever send people door to door. With all the robberis taking place, i defnitely was not going to entertain them. Morever not everyone in my neighbourhood got this letter, only me. At the moment i am back overseas n don’t know who to complain this matter to. Would appreaciate your help.
