“While we have to recognise that 100 days is a short time for a fair assessment, I am concerned that there is no carefully thought out overall long-term social policy that focuses on issues of redistribution, particularly reducing unemployment. Instead, there have been ad-hoc policy prescriptions and piecemeal announcements like rice handouts which do not solve the larger problem of food security.
“Another example of ad-hoc policy is the announcement of a levy on employers who bring in migrants. If the PR government is serious about reducing dependency on migrant workers, they should seriously look at instituting a state minimum or living wage, not a levy which we know will be passed on to the worker. I urge PR to provide quality college education to address persistent unemployment among local graduates.
“The free water policy counters efforts to conserve water. It will cost the state RM120 million in revenue which will only increase. The government should look into rain harvesting which will reduce the public’s water bill by 40% to 50% with no loss in state revenue.
“A wider consultation with a permanent structure for civil society engagement is needed.”

Dear MP Charles,
I guess this will be a continuation of my comments previously.
This is a typical example of what I meant earlier in my previous comment.
All I can read about is you talking this and that giving your comments and your concerns. If you are giving such comments, which are according to your opinion is not that positive, do something about it. Come out with a cause of action. Until now, I do not or have not read anything about your proposal or what are your actions to help the Selangor government.
At least from what I know the Selangor government is trying to look into issues. It could be a short term plan for now, which may not be effective for a long term, but at least they are trying to do something about it for now. Nothing is perfect and I think everybody understand that.
Why not you just look into the issues together with the Selangor government and try to come out something for the long term instead of just giving comments of this and that which is not good.
If I am not a supporter of you, I would say that you are just another MP who wants to get publicity only. Another thing is, it is also that you are like from BN, always criticizing the PR all the time.
Come on……..stop all this crap and start working something out with the Selangor government. You should be like the Selangor MB or Ronnie, talk only when necessary. Do the things that need to be done, whether it is for short term or long term. If it is for short term for the time being, let it be and come out with a solution for long term after that. Work with the Selangor government.
Come on………………wake up…….

How fast time flies…. It is already 100 days.
Well, I must say that Sunny Ho did bring up a couple of interesting points for us to look into.
Though I agreed with your comments on the possible wastage of usage of water once free water to the folks of Selangor is being implemented, I would like to find out if you managed to seat down with the Selangor MB to discuss about the implications and possible consequences of such a move. The same goes with the levy issue.
Quality education in Malaysia seems to have disappeared many years ago. What high standards that we had so many years ago hardly exists now. So it is not fair to ask PR to offer quality education when it is BN that is holding on to the portfolio – unless of course you can managed to westle that out of BN’s hands and pass it over to PR to handle and change accordingly.
We can say many things but I think it is far more important if we can actually do more things than just commenting it. It would be wise to seat down with the relevant people concern to voice out any issues and concerns that you may have with what is happening in Selangor State and see and hear what they have to say.
We need to work as a team or otherwise, the opposition would take this opportunity to divide and conquer.
I noticed that you have brought up alot of housing and maintenance issues in regards to those living in Port Klang area. Please work with the relevant authorities to help these folks. To solve their problems should be given priority by the State Government.
Do put up the notice for the next Parliment sitting and for Q&A time. We as Rakyats also have questions that are relevant and would like to put forth to find out the answers. It would be great if MP Charles would be able to allow us to forward questions to you.
Thank you.
