Charles Santiago Visits Kampung Papan

papan3.jpg Approximately 30 residents in the Kampung Papan ‘squatter’ area welcomed Charles Santiago, Ronnie Liu, and Mrs Manoharan warmly when the Klang constituency candidates paid a visit there recently.

The residents in Kampong Papan have fought for the right for land to build their home, from the Selangor state government for the past 50 years. After having their hopes dashed by empty promises from the present government, the residents look towards Charles for a solution to their land rights violation.

Full House in Tian Hock Temple and Hokkien Association Hall, Klang
————————————————————————————————

charles11.jpg DAP’s Secretary General, Lim Guan Eng, showed up to a packed hall of supporters at Tian Hock Temple, Port Klang last night, 27 February 2008. He was in town to support the Klang candidates for the constituency.

Speakers, including Lim himself, Charles Santiago, Mrs. Manoharan, Raja Petra, Ronnie Liew, Badrul Hisham and educationist Loo Teng Yee were there as a united opposition front. The main message that the Barisan Rakyat delivered was to deny the present government the 2/3 majority in the Parliament. The crowd thundered and cheered while crying out phrases of “Batalkan ISA!”, “Rakyat Boleh!”

charlesaudience.jpg The Hokkien Association Hall also had a massive gathering of about 3,000 supporters. Charles Santiago took the stage to represent Lim Guan Eng to deliver an impactful message to the crowd.

In a recent press conference, Charles Santiago, a DAP candidate and social activist running for the Klang MP seat, posed a challenge to his opponent, Ch’ng Toh Eng.
